Here at Meithrinfa Ogwen Cyf we have many years of experience of settling new children into routines. Over the time we have found it best policy for the child to attend for ‘settling in’ periods. This is whereby the parent leaves the child in our care for two hours at a time for the child to get used to the setting and the staff come accustomed to the child. It is advisable for this to happened at least twice and then progress to a half day for all the staff and the child and parents to become accustomed to their new routine.
We can accommodate routines and times to suit both the parents and Meithrinfa Ogwen Cyf.
Of course not all parents wish to participate in the ‘settling in’ period. We appreciate this and will do all we can to settle all children in according to their age, ability and own routines.
Here at Meithrinfa Ogwen Cyf we greet parents in the door at the beginning of each session and it is up to the parent to tell us any concerns they have about their child since the last time they came in. Of course staff will ask parents at the beginning of each session if the child is ready to play for the day but it is important that we know of any little changes to the child that may upset their routine for the day. This can be anything from having a fever over the weekend to not eating for two days.
Likewise if our responsibility here at Meithrinfa Ogwen Cyf to report any such changes t yourselves as parents at the end of each session.
By doing this at the beginning and end of each session we are taking care of your child’s need it the way that makes for a happy healthy child.
If you have forgotten to mention something in the morning please give us a ring or text. The message may be imperative for your child’s happiness for the day.
We pride ourselves on good communication between ourselves here at Meithrinfa Ogwen Cyf and yourselves as parents. We can not achieve this without your help.
